Dear Families,

We hope that you enjoyed the Bank Holiday and that you managed to do something enjoyable. We all had a great day on Friday being rock stars as part of supporting NSPCC on Number Day. From battling each other on Times Table Rockstars, linking up maths lessons with Y2 in Exhall Cedars Infants, through to even measuring the playground, it was a day filled with numbers, thank you for your support.

It is important that you continue to follow the guidance should you or your children develop any of the symptoms of COVID-19. The current requirements are that any child displaying any of the symptoms should get a PCR test and isolate until the results are known. Please note that the Government currently specify that the lateral flow test is not sufficient for this purpose. We know that requirements have changed a lot, and it can be very confusing, but with the recent local closures of class and year bubbles, and sometimes whole schools, we all need to be aware and follow this latest guidance.

Earlier in the year, the DfE (Department for Education) have said that there will be no formal tests and examinations again this year. This means that the Year 6 SATs tests that were scheduled for this week will not go ahead as they would have done normally. Teachers in all year groups will still be making teacher assessments for their students between now and the end of the term for use within school. These will be passed on their new school, or class teacher, so everyone will be ready to carry on with their learning.

The Friends of St Giles have confirmed that due to the impact Covid has had on the current Year 6 pupil’s final year they would like to present them with a gift to recognise all their achievements. They are purchasing each Year 6 pupil a personalised leavers t-shirt as a memento to keep. Can you please make sure that you have contacted the office with your child’s size – details have been emailed out to you.

Take care.
