Dear Families,

It’s already beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Thank you to Santa’s Helpers who have once again been at work hanging the Christmas decorations and spreading some Christmas sparkle throughout the school!

There continues to be lots going on in school at the moment and in the run up to Christmas. November’s newsletter was packed full of events inside and outside of school, make sure you download your copy.

As of Tuesday 30th November, we are requesting that all parents wear face coverings when coming into the school building – though you can wear them outside if this supports you. A reminder too that due to the increased ventilation across the school classrooms are cooler than usual, so please ensure that your child is wearing enough layers to keep them sufficiently warm when indoors; thank you.

Latest news from the Local Authority, who lead on the guidance around Covid, is that decisions are still being left with the Head Teacher and Public Health England around any responses to cases and outbreaks. We hope that we can all safely manage to get to the end of term without further disruption, but teaching staff have all had refresher training around online learning. You might want to make sure that you are familiar with our online platform Seesaw, just in case a quick response is required. Remember, if your child is off ill, they will not be expected to complete work – they are ill, we are anticipating that if your child has been asked to self-isolate, then they are not ill, and work will be set for them online.

Unfortunately, we have received some complaints from cares/ parents and neighbours this week regarding the inconsiderate parking of a very small minority of parents at the beginning and end of the school day when dropping children off at school. This normally occurs when it’s raining as a greater number of cars are being used to collect children. The yellow zig-zags on the corner are to show that the area must be kept clear to allow an unrestricted view for approaching drivers and riders or children wanting to cross the road – DO NOT PARK ON THEM. We understand that further up Hayes Lane cars are parking on the pavement – this is just forcing people to walk on the road, especially if they have a young child in a buggy, again, we are asking to park with consideration for everyone.

In the last week or so the weather has turned particularly cold. Please make sure that your child has a coat in school and that they have warm clothes, particularly on PE days when the children wear their PE kit.

Christmas Dinner Day!

Remember we are having our school Christmas dinner on Wednesday 15th December, all orders are in now, the potatoes have all been peeled, so if you haven’t ordered by now your children will need to bring in sandwiches.

Christmas Donations

From a suggestion of our Junior Leadership team, we are asking for donations to give to the local foodbank. We will have boxes ready for any donations and we arrange for them to be collected – thank you to those who have already left items, below are some suggestions.

A typical food parcel includes:

Cereal Soup Pasta Rice Tinned tomatoes/ pasta sauce Lentils, beans and pulses Tinned meat Tinned vegetables Tea/coffee Tinned fruit Biscuits UHT milk Fruit juice

Food banks also provide essential non-food items like toiletries and hygiene products where they can.

Children will be allowed to write and send Christmas cards to their friends this year, both in their own class and other classes – there is a post box in the entrance by the office from Wednesday. Our Y6 posties will wash their hands before, and after making their deliveries. Please help your child put the name and class clearly on the envelopes so we know where the Christmas cards need to go!
