Dear Families,

Welcome back to the Summer Term at Exhall Juniors which starts tomorrow. We hope you all had a restful and pleasant break as well as enjoying some of the lovely weather! The summer term is always a very busy one and this year is no exception at. Some of the main dates are all included on our calendar page on the school website and on the app, so please do make a note of these.

Remember, the school will be closed on the May Day Bank Holiday on Monday 2nd May, but we have not been chosen to be a Polling Station for the local elections on the 5th May, so we will be open as usual. Exhall Cedars Infants is being used, so will be closed on that day.

Please note School Term dates have been changed by Warwickshire County Council to mark the celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. The extra holiday will be Friday 22nd July 2022. The last day of the summer term will now be Thursday 21st July 2022.

During the week beginning Monday, 9th May, our Year 6 children will be involved in SATs tests.  It is very important that all children are in school during this week as tests can only be taken on certain days. It is also important that they are in school every day leading up to the SATs to help with their preparation.

Outside Achievements

We envisage events in school are back to happening in person again from this term. We hope our assemblies will be back together in the hall, please remember to send in details if your child has achieved things outside of school for our Friday celebration assembly.

At Exhall Juniors, we are working very hard to make sure our school attendance improves and we aim for every child to have at least 96% attendance for the year but understand that the most recent Covid infections can impact on this. If your child has a temperature, vomiting or diarrhoea, please keep them at home until they are well, stopping the spread of germs will help everyone.

We are following the NHS guidance regarding Covid Symptoms in school. If your child has a temperature and sickness, please keep them at home until they are well. You do not need to carry out a test unless medically advised to do so. The NHS guidance for children is available here: NHS Link

Summer Uniform

As the weather continues to improve, please do make sure your child has a water bottle in school, and is wearing suitable clothing. Blue and white gingham dresses/skorts are acceptable school uniform and all children have the option of wearing shorts. Shorts should be plain grey/ black and knee-length, with no stripes or logos. Footwear for the summer term is the same as for the rest of the year and all children should wear plain black shoes or trainers (with black laces). These are all available at local shops, as we do not require you to buy school logo branded uniform. Please remember, open sandals/ flipflops are not permitted as these are not appropriate for running and climbing in the playground.
