Dear Families,

We wish all Dads, Grandads, Uncles and father-figures a wonderful Father’s Day. May your day be filled with laughter coupled with the smiles and love of those closest to you.

May your every witty comment, every joke that you crack and every idea that you share be matched with the hilarious laughter and compliments that you so richly deserve – this will only last for a day!

Out in the Sun

The sun’s rays are particularly strong between April and September and can damage children’s skin. Try to apply sunscreen, at least SPF 15, to exposed areas including the nose and tops of ears in the morning before attending at school, and at the weekends. Please ensure your child is prepared for the weather (even on dull days as these can turn in to hot days) – water bottles/ hats.

Applications for Exceptional Leave

We have recently received a number of applications for exceptional leave for family holidays. Please be aware, we are unable to authorise family holiday during term times. Whilst we understand that holiday prices rise significantly in the school holidays and families have not had a chance to travel abroad for a couple of years, these do not constitute 'exceptional circumstances'. Good attendance at school is vital for all children to make good progress and reach their potential. Schools are under significant pressure from the Government and the Local Authority to ensure attendance of all pupils is good. If families continue with ‘unauthorised’ travel plans, the school can choose to pass the matter to the Local Authority to issue fixed penalty notices. This is not necessarily something that we want to do, but in some cases, we will have no choice.

PE/ Forest School Kit

Thank you to everyone who has been wearing the correct uniform to school, it has been great to see everyone looking so smart and reflecting such pride in our school. Please do remind your child that football-type kit cannot be worn for PE clothing. Can all students arrive in their Forest School – they can change this before the session starts to something more appropriate. Even if the weather is hot, children are still required to wear long sleeved top and trousers, as this protects them during the activities.

We are following the NHS guidance regarding Covid Symptoms in school. If your child has a temperature and sickness, please keep them at home until they are well – three days is recommended. You do not need to carry out a test unless medically advised to do so. The NHS guidance for children is available here: NHS Link

The coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccines are being offered to children aged 5 to 15, printed details are available, or have a look at this LINK. Two doses are being offered to children aged 5 to 15 to give them the best protection against COVID-19.
