Dear Families,

Christmas has well and truly arrived at EJS! Children and staff have all been looking very festive in their Christmas jumpers for our Christmas Lunch. Thank you too to our cooks Sandra and Karen for producing such a fabulous feast for us all at lunchtime.

Congratulations and well done to all the children and staff involved in the Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 Christmas production at Exhall Cedars Infant, Nursery & Preschool. Year Three were invited last week to see ‘Everyone Loves a Baby’, and we all thought their acting, singing, dancing and narrating were absolutely fabulous.

Scarlet Fever

The latest data from the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) shows that scarlet fever cases continue to remain higher than we would typically see at this time of year. They remain quite low between local schools, but please remain vigilant. Scarlet fever is usually a mild illness, but it is highly transmittable. We suggest that you become familiar with the signs of scarlet fever, especially if you have younger children at home, a link to help you is here Update on scarlet fever and invasive Group A strep

Monday - Year 5 will need coats/ wellies/ suitable footwear, again, as they will be outside for their science lesson.

Wednesday – We will be walking to St Giles Church in the morning. Can you make sure your child has suitable shoes for walking, a warm coat, and a hat/scarf/gloves if you think your child needs them. The children will also need their warm coats in the afternoon, as you are invited to some Christmas carols and songs being sung outside on the playground, followed by Christmas Fair activities in the hall. Wrap up warm and bring your money.

Friday – last day of term, school closes for two weeks and reopens on Wednesday 4th January for the Spring Term

Pay360 Accounts

We ask that you ensure that your Pay360 accounts are up to date and not in arrears. Your account can be set up to alert you of low balances to ensure that debt doesn’t occur. Unpaid meal debts will be followed up and if your account is in arrears of more than £7.50, we will ask that your child brings a packed lunch until the debt is cleared. Please call the office if this is going to be an issue for you. Here’s the link PAY360

Last Sunday App Message

Picking up from comments made on the Carers/Parents Survey regarding the variety of communication channels the school uses, and the amount of information sent out, we will be streamlining how we contact you in 2023. All non-urgent emails will be sent out on Thursday via Groupcall, all events will be on the school calendar for you to check, and the app will be used just as a reminder for particular events or for anything that requires immediate action, the monthly newsletter will still be sent out. We will monitor this new system over the Spring term to ensure that it keeps you informed.
